The student rowing program is offered throughout the rowing year, and is broken into three sessions, Spring, Summer and Fall.
Spring
In the spring of each year LHRC sponsors a joint rowing program for both Litchfield and Wamogo High Schools. This program kicks off in March with dry land training while we wait for the lake to be freed up from ice. Once we get on the water we compete at a number of home and away regattas with the big race being the Connecticut Publich School regatta on Lake Waramaug. The season concludes with an awards banquet in June. Enrollment in this program is restricted to the students of Litchfield and Wamogo High Schools.
Summer
The summer student program is a combination of open rowing and Learn to Row. The focus of this program is at this time, recreational.
The program commences in the beginning of June and runs through mid August. Since in the summer the power boat traffic on Bantam Lake increases dramatically, we are usually restricted to rowing in the morning hours (6am - 9am).
Fall
With the Fall program the competitive focus shifts from Sprint Racing to Regional Head Races. In the past years LHRC has competed at the Head of the Riverfront, The Head of the Connecticut and The Head of the Charles. The session starts at the beginning of September and runs to the end of October. Enrollment for this program is open to all students in the Litchfield Area.
