The new docks were delivered to the Litchfield Town Beach on February 25 at 5:30 am. The usual 5:30 am Erg’ing crew met the truck to unload and stack the dock sections at the beach.

A crew of volunteers assembled the dock on top of the ice on Sunday morning. Special thanks to Ziggy, Ernie, Egils, Joe, Chris, Pete and Luke the Dog.
Now we only have to wait for the ice to melt…..

The DEP has finally issued an approval on the Boathouse plans. With this event the Town of Litchfield and the Club are finally able to proceed with the building of the new facility. The next significant event will be the issuing of a request for bids on the building of the structure. This is expected to occur in the next 2-3 weeks. We are expecting that within a month of the issuing the Request for Bid a builder will be selected.
The Board has made a decision to plan for the construction in June once the Spring High School rowing season has completed.

For the past number of years the club has used a set of old pressure treated wood docks for launching shells. When we embarked on the fund raising for the new Boathouse, replacing the docks with a modern Connect-A-Dock system was included as part of the project.
The club has placed its order and is expecting the dock to arrive at the Beach by the end of February. Any volunteers to help unload and but the dock together please contact Maggie Dreher or Egils.

The new boathouse is finally on it’s way. On Tuesday (June 2), the agreement between The Town of Litchfield and LHRC was signed and recorded. The agreement with Taft was signed Wednesday morning. After years of negotiations, plans, board reviews, planning & zoning and inland wetlands review it is finally happening.

The next steps are the plans for the boathouse will be put out for bid by the Town. This should take 3-4 weeks to complete. Keep you fingers crossed, if all goes well we should have a new boathouse this year.
